Purple Elder ….

….. More specifically, sambuca nigra f.porphyrophylla “black lace” (I think).

The only plant in the garden which I’ve grown from a cutting, given to us by a lady we stayed quite a bit with on a B&B basis when visiting Christchurch. The house and garden were just gorgeous. It no longer exists, when they moved the new owners demolished it to build a block of apartments. A real shame.

The garden needs some attention, but even so there are plenty of plants flowering. The purple elder, which is now a large bush ( or even small tree), is covered in these florets.
