Clematis

We were up early; it looked like another perfect gardening day. Hubby finished pruning the boxwoods. Some are shaped like hedges, others are globes. I rescheduled my doctor appointment to next week since I forgot to have my blood drawn. I’ll get a blood test tomorrow or Wednesday. Then I started the first of three loads of laundry before joining hubby in the garden. My job was to prune dead or “in the way” branches from the beauty berry, lilacs and butterfly bushes. Now hubby has a clear path for mowing. Several branches on our Japanese maple died during the cold winter. I think it will fill in now that it’s pruned. Hubby discarded my and his debris. He started mulching around the raised bed garden but ran out of time. My foot was throbbing so I quit also. He had to pick up meds after lunch and get ready for honor guard duty for a deceased Knight. I showered, had lunch and called our mother for a chat. Brought her up to date on family activities and then sent her photos of everything. She was heading to a card game with my sister Barbara. River plays t-ball tonight but I am not sure the foot can drive today. We may have to go to Wednesday’s game. So thankful for Kristen’s leftovers. Made a chicken taco and elevated the foot. I have admired our neighbor’s clematis for days. Decided it would be my blip today. Hoping your day was less strenuous. Stay safe. Thanks for dropping by. “Yon curving spray of purple clematis. Whose gorgeous dye outflames the Tyrian King, And foxgloves with their nodding chalices. But that one narciss which the startled Spring. Let from her kirtle fall when first she heard In her own woods the wild tempestuous song of summer's bird.” - Oscar Wilde
