This is the day

Twice blest

It’s been a day of gentle rain, refreshing the garden, which started just as I’d finished doing the early morning dead heading of the roses.

And that leads me nicely to my photograph, and this extract from Portia’s famous ‘mercy speech’ in "The Merchant of Venice".

The quality of mercy is not strained;
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes.
