A rainy walk
It was raining when I woke up and it has rained most of the day so far. Not a heavy rain, but enough to make Xena hide under bushes as we walked in the woods. Here she turned around as I took a photo, but soon after this as I was fiddling about with my camera she went under a large bracken leaf to get shelter from the rain - she dislikes rain!
At my convincing, Tommy phoned British Airways about his suitcase - lost luggage is logged online and you usually don't get to speak to anyone about it. The problem was that he was on a Lufthansa flight from Munich to London which was then cancelled due to storms - his luggage had already been tagged with a Lufthansa label and taken away for the flight. When the flight was cancelled, Lufthansa offered him a British Airways flight instead. However, the two airline carriers operate from different terminals at Munich Airport, and so his luggage was in a different terminal and was not brought to the correct one to be loaded on the British Airways flight. The airport rules are that the last carrier needs to find the lost luggage, which in this case was British Airways, and not Lufthansa - but having a Lufthansa label made it difficult for British Airways to find the luggage. Anyway, this morning Tommy was told by British Airways that they now know where the luggage is and it should be flown to London in the next day or two - and then will get delivered to Tommy. Fingers crossed!
Last night I started watching Dept Q on Netflix which I am very much enjoying. Set in Edinburgh it stars Matthew Goode who lives locally to me and I regularly see him in Waitrose doing the family grocery shopping (when he is not away filming). Some months ago when I saw him I noticed he had grown a rather dense beard, and I assumed he was going to be in some period drama - but no, when I started watching Dept Q and saw his beard, I realised it was for this role. He is usually clean shaven so it is not his usual look.
I did not sleep well last night but at least I no longer feel nauseous with jetlag. Gavin actually went into the office today, I am sure he will be tired tonight.
Inca arrives tonight - she has now finished all her veterinary exams, vivas and placements and has passed everything so is now Dr Inca! I am so pleased for her that it is all over and she passed everything, it has been six long and stressful years at Cambridge Uni.
Someone....the clue is in the photo - turns six tomorrow!
