The flowers of the Mother of Thousands.

The Feast Day of Saint Norbert of Xanten.

Born c1075. Xanten, Germany. Died 1134. Magdeburg, Germany.

He worked to establish a reformist Augustinian community who devoted their efforts and prayers to stop heresy against the Blessed Sacrament. He and his Norbertine monks helped sustain the faith of those who were lukewarm or struggling. He worked on reconciling numerous enemies and eventually he was appointed Chancellor of Italy.

Patron saint of safe childbirth, Magdeburg, Germany, and the Kingdom of Bohemia in the Czech Republic.

It has been a busy morning with housework, vacuuming, washing and finding time for a walk between the showers.
We are currently in a lovely sunny spell.

The photo today shows the original Mother of Thousands in flower. It is an indoor perennial succulent
called Kalanchoe Daigremontiana. Like the unique plant itself, the flowers are exotic looking and bell shaped.

The best way to care for it, is to plant it in well draining soil and avoid over watering. Let the soil dry out between watering. Spray it in very warm weather. The life span of the plant is 3 to 5 years but it can be longer with tender loving care. The flowers have lasted months, simply from being on a bright sunny windowsill in the conservatory. I spray the plant with room temperature water. It is very low maintenance. Finding small flowerpots for the many plantlets it produces, is the most effort needed!

Have a great Friday blip friends and thank you for visiting my site today.
