Barn Quilts in Abingdon, Va
We got up in time get ready, pack up our stuff, have breakfast and still sightsee for a while. It’s the first time I have seen country ham on the breakfast bar, a real treat above sausage patties. We have stayed in Abingdon, Va on and off while traveling to/from TN. It is a small town trying to become a recognized art and fine food district along I 81. We have enjoyed each local restaurant so far. The serving staff is very attentive and pleasant. Guess it’s that southern hospitality we love. We drove through a bit of the town this morning and came across a museum with these barn quilts. The waterfall garden scene was at the corner of another section of town. Our first stop was at BucCee’s. Wanted to get more of their tasty salsa, some of their cheap fuel and decided to try their famous brisket or Carolina pulled pork sandwich. We were not disappointed. It will be salad only for dinner. When planning our trip down to Dunlap, we forgot about the Central time change. We arrived way too early to meet hubby’s sibling at the air B&B. We picked up the remaining ingredients for my pot luck dish and visited the cemetery where hubby’s relatives are buried. We went to the air B&B to wait for hubby’s sisters and their families. The Lord was kind. We got everything out of the vehicles before the torrential rains started. We have to find dinner and breakfast items from a grocery store. Should be a quiet evening. Wishing you a fun weekend. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “Small towns seem to appreciate things a little bit more. They're less jaded and they're more kind of authentic and more themselves and they don't care as much.” - Pauly Shore
