Summer Wings

I was watching bees visiting the purple toadflax outside the back door when a skipper butterfly, my first of the season, suddenly appeared. How exciting! Never seen one here before. It enjoyed the congested mass of flowers on the fasciated stem that I blipped on 30th May. I think its a large skipper.

I've photographed the cinnabar moth in extras quite a few times this season. Finally got it with its wings spread. It lives in the small area of uncut grass that I have in the front garden. There's a large ragwort which its caterpillars will love if it can find a mate.
