Marjorie's ramblings

Ullapool

The weather today was a huge improvement on yesterday, as was the journey. Even the A9 was not very busy and the final stretch to Ullapool was very quiet.

I stopped a couple of times. I find that my neck hurts after a couple of hours at the wheel. I can’t see that meal deals are going to help my diet, but I did feel hungry!

My second stop was at Rogie Falls. It seemed to be very popular with people arriving all the time. The sun made photography tricky.

My Airbnb is excellent. Just how you expect a Scottish B&B to be. It’s shimmeringly clean and the decor is fresh and coordinated.

I was thrown because the name on the welcome notice was not mine….. but that was resolved quickly.

I ate at the Royal Hotel. The food was excellent and much better than last night in Stirling. The price was identical. Has anyone else noticed how expensive it is to eat out these days?

(They had a last minute addition of langoustines to the menus, but the price for a starter was going to be £18. I didn’t ask about the cost of a main course!!

I enjoyed a hot shower here and was pleased that the towel rail was hot.

The only problem later may be the sound of the seagulls!
