London Day 2
It was supposed to be 24° today, warming up over the morning. So we set off without jumpers, jackets etc. but the day did not warm up till late afternoon - so we were rather cold. So cold, in fact, that when JR went for a browse around the shops in Battersea Power Station, she found a perfect jumper that she just had to buy. And then she found the perfect jumper for me too! Which enabled us to not be cold for the rest of the day.
I found the easiest way to get to BPS, the Northern Line - straight there, no changes. There we met my cousin C. Haven’t seen her for ages, and very good to catch up over a long lunch. We then happened upon the Art Hotel, and noticed on the map that it had a rooftop bar! A rooftop bar looking on to the BPS huge towers - what could be better? There was also an infinity pool (for residents).
By this time the sun HAD come out, so we stayed for a bottle of fizz. C departed for home, and we took the Uber boat back up the river, past Parliament (see you tomorrow!) and got off at Embankment, which is on the Northern Line. We wanted to go to our favourite dark underground bar - Gordon’s. But at 5.30 there was a queue! We were allowed in because we didn’t want a table, but we had decided it was too late to stay- we’d spent too long at the rooftop bar, just wanted a wee look in.
Back home, I am absolutely stuffed again, though only 8,882 steps, less than yesterday.
We came across a Gail’s! We were very excited, as there aren’t any in Scotland.
Another exciting day tomorrow!
