Very Soggy
It's been tipping it down this morning, but there was a brief interlude just after lunch, so I nipped out to see what I could find. This very sorry looking specimen (a female Bombus lapidarius?) was sitting on a leaf, looking thoroughly miserable. I thought it might not have survived, but it moved one of its antennae which was a good sign.
Having taken a shot of the bee, I moved it, leaf and all, out of the wet into a dry sheltered part of the old log store, where it might stand a chance of drying out in the breeze. As it has played its dutiful part as my photographic model, it seemed only fair to pop back with some sugar water. It moved onto the drop of sugar water surprisingly quickly, which I took to be a good sign.
There's an extra of a common green bottle fly - this one not looking anywhere near as soggy.
