Replicating the past
The first full day of the holiday proper was spent with hazelh and Mr Hazelh. I had such a comfortable night that I was not ready when they arrived!
We walked to the Mangersta bothy. It is stone and built into the cliff sides, high above a dramatic seascape. It’s very popular now and a delightful couple were packing up after their night there.
We had tea and biscuits sitting on the rocks outside. A family arrived, including an 11 month old baby. Hazel and I were anxious as his mother climbed down the rocks. The grandparents were from Tasmania and were visiting a daughter who lives in Stornoway. I took photos and I’ll send them when the internet appears again.
We then drove a few miles and did the walk to Ken’s cave. This featured in a blip of 2016 and I’ll try to link to it. It was much further than I remembered and the terrain was rough, but we made it.
Tim went into the cave. When he emerged, Hazel directed him so that we could reproduce my image from our first visit! https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2181087684598957439
They went swimming and I went back to the pod for a rest.
I had the pleasure of a chat with Tosh and Ged, who own the pod. He is a video editor for the BBC but still works as a freelance video photographer. They had received a message about the internet, but no repair time.
It’s at times like these when you realise how much you rely on it. I have no radio or TV as well as no email, WhatsApp or Blipfoto. I guess I will survive!
