Changeover Day
Changeover Day
I woke to a calm day with sunshine streaming into the pod.
I packed everything into the car, in between chatting to Ged and Tosh. They feel like good friends already.
It was a good morning for wild flower photography because it was so still. I spent about an hour in one of the fields en route to the bothy. It is a popular place for people to visit, so I had chats with two different couples.
By now, it was time for an early lunch before the bikers arrived. I also visited the museum next door to the café. A long conversation with Museum volunteer, born and bred on the island, meant that I missed the first bikes ascending the road to the café, but there were many more to come. (They are here for the Midge Biters annual rally)
Now I have a huge number of images to process!
The bikers are a very friendly bunch. I saw the couple on Raspberry Ripple from the ferry on Wednesday.
Why is it that so many bikers smoke? Lots using tobacco to roll their own plus plenty of ordinary cigarettes and a few vapes.
I emptied my car into The Hayloft at Baile na Cille. What a lot of space after the pod! There is a large open plan downstairs with a small kitchen, dining area and lounge. The views from here are over the bay. Upstairs used to be two small rooms, but has been opened up into one bedroom. The shower room is up there too.
Is there a down side? Not only is the internet off, but there is no phone signal.
I enjoyed smoked salmon with my salad. The salmon and wine and oat cakes were provided by my hosts! I drove out in the late evening sun and checked my emails when a weak signal kicked in.
Extras: deer come down into the village in search of food. Reeds in a locchan in the evening light.
This is another backblip from the car!
