Stars in the garden

Just in from a funeral of one of our church community. We had a choir for him and it was good to sing some rousing songs he has chosen himself.
Last June we celebrated his 90th birthday in the family room at church. He said then he’d like to do it again for his 91st birthday. That would have been on Saturday so we had the party for him after his funeral service today in the same place.

This morning before community choir I popped into the garden to get a closer look at this Allium. It has been opening its individual star flower heads for about two weeks ( blip) and they’re not all open yet.  It’s much bigger, though less tall, and much later flowering than the other Alliums which are all spent now.
It was attracting hoverflies and at one point I had one land on the screen of my camera! The surrounding geraniums were full of the buzz of honey and bumble bees but they were ignoring the Allium flower.

Not quite done with singing yet for today. Having a rest before heading out again for church choir practice.
Sunny and warm today.

The extra is taken when the sun came out from behind a cloud
