Library motto

A visit to Durham today. We used the park and ride which was easy, efficient and good value. After coffee and cannoli, we climbed the hill to the castle and cathedral. This is the entrance to the old university library with a Latin motto which means “not the least of learning is knowing good books”.

The cathedral is magnificent with some very old and some very modern sculptures and stained glass. 

We climbed the 325 steps up the tower, and it was well worth the effort. The views were amazing. After that we felt we had earned our lunch!
