Panorama Trail
After a restless night, I thought I’d better get used to the altitude before going on a long walk. So I took the chairlift up to Alp Languard, and walked the aptly named Panorama Trail towards Muottas Muragl.
It‘s an easy, mostly even walk of just over two hours, but I took my time with it. It was just lovely to see (and take pictures of) the many Alpine flowers along the way. Some had little crab spiders in them, hunting flies and bees (see extra #3). And of course I had to take in the beautiful views. The main blip looks back on the first part of the way, towards the Bernina group with famous Piz Palü (in the thumbnail).
The closer I got to Muottas Muragl, the more crowded the path became. In the current heatwave over Europe, lots of Swiss, German and Italian people seem to have decided to come up here and enjoy the cooler mountain air (which was more than warm enough for my taste today).
I didn’t feel ready to finish my walk and leave the mountain magic behind for today, so I decided to walk back down to the village on a path I usually go up. It took me past a well-camouflaged marmot, along a pretty stream, and through meadows full of wild fire lilies.
Absolutely fabulous.
Later, I went shopping in the village, and now I need a rest after 21,200 steps - way more walking that I had planned to do.
