Fathers Day
The day started with breakfast made by Sam, two cards, a text message, a phone call and the promise of a phone call in the evening accounted for all four of my children. A new garden kneeler and the offer of a coffee later made nice gifts.
Sam, Paddy and I headed over to Gwithian to join “The Black Dog Walking Group”. “Black Dog” is also the term used to describe depression, I felt ok and fortunately in Paddy I have a black dog, in my fellow walkers people to chat to.
A coffee and pastry on the beach at the half way point after which we headed back. Sam and I then set off for Portreath for a ‘Dads Day’ lunch, deep fried squid for me with a garlic mayo dip.
Another walk on another beach where today’s photo was taken.
Often thought of as an old lighthouse the small white tower overlooking the harbour is known either as the Pepper Pot or The Lighthouse but it never had a light.
The notice over the door reads "HM Coastguard Board of Trade" which gives an idea of its original purpose - as a lookout as well as a daytime navigation aid. It was built in the early 19th Century and originally had a door and window; the knob of granite on the top is for the weather vane.
Home in the sunshine to make a start on the shed
