Near South

Today's tour in two parts. This morning we headed to the southernmost point of mainland Shetland. Weather was low cloud and occasional rain so the views were limited. First stop was at Shetland Crofthouse Museum (extra 1). It consisted of a two room stone built croft that dates from 1881. On to Sumburgh hotel for morning tea. Next door is the Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Settlement (extra 2). It has been a settlement of some kind for at least 4000 years. We then returned to Lerwick via Tesco. As it's Sunday nowhere else was open for us to find any lunch. Interesting looks from some shoppers as our massive coach negotiated the car park. Had some time for a short explore of the area around a certain fictional character's house (main). Then we took a short drive to Scalloway and its museum. Last stop was at Carol's Ponies. Extra 3 shows Thor, a three week old Shetland pony, and his mum.
