Early One Morning

After the last 2 days of mist and rain, today dawned sunny and calm. I dawdled along the shore to meet the swimmers in the morning and took this photo of the ‘double houses’ near the Ness slip.
The three terraced house in the photo are actually back to back with another three facing in the other direction. The middle house in the photo, featured in the TV show ‘House of the Year ‘ in Scotland a few years ago.

By the time I had myself organised it was time to meet Sally Selkie to go to Kirkwall for a lunch time showing of ‘The Salt Path’ in the leisure centre cinema. I don’t know what to say about the film. The scenery was lovely but for me it was slow moving and nothing much happened. It wasn’t helped that again, like last night at the ‘Night Train to Odesa’ event, I had trouble hearing what the main characters were saying and also when the going was slow  at the beginning I had to fight against nodding off. If only I could capture this latter ability when I’m in my bed at night.

When we got back to Stromness, we sat in the sun at the feet of John Rae licking ice creams. Now that I’m home, I am sitting in the garden with my laptop  looking out over the water to Orphir bathed in sunshine while in front of me a wee boat is pulling in oysters creels  It can’t get better than this - it really feels like midsummer.
