Whales

I am back-blipping this - the news about Folkie touched me more than I thought it would, given that I had never met her - but this is blip, and you do get to know people somehow, and Folkie was very special... 

Today the conference organisers had arranged a whale watching trip.. We managed to spot a couple of sei whales at a distance. 

In the evening we all went to a posh hotel for a nice dinner to celebrate the 70th birthday of a major academic figure Julian's field. I am lucky that I could go straight to the dinner without attending the very long talks beforehand!
