Cosmos
Another dull morning, but it was dry. I’ve just walked home from another church family funeral, 2 in less than 2 weeks, and the sun has reappeared and it’s now pretty warm.
This morning I took a look around the garden. Buds are appearing on the Agapanthus plants and I’ve found another conical Allium in a different part of the garden - no idea how many I planted. The Vanille Friase Paniculata hydrangea has flowers opening which is amazing as I remember at least one of the pots they are growing in was totally frozen over during the winter. Wonderful how plants recover. The Anthony Waterer Spirea is full of deep pink blooms but I’ve gone with these Cosmos flowers, four different coloured ones growing in one pot though there are several blooms of white ones and the paler pink by colour. They are such a treat in the summer garden. I’m sure Audrey would have loved them.
She had been in care for a couple of years but she used to run our Sunday school and helped out with our monthly coffee mornings. We didn’t see her or several other elderly parishioners after Covid though they did join in with zoom church for a while.
It was a lovely buffet afterwards and the caterers were very keen for us to take food away as it wasn’t a big congregation or family so I’ve come home with two plates of savouries.
Tea sorted!
