Keep on keeping on...

This ringlet has had a busy life, and carries the scars of many an encounter during its short life. A spot in today's butterfly survey at Charfield Meadow, where there were simply dozens, perhaps hundreds, of marbled whites, ringlets and meadow browns. 

Also, hundreds of nasty little bitey flies, and I also carry the scars of every encounter...

What I didn't notice, sadly, until I got onto the computer at home, was the creature hiding underneath... I can't identify it with any certainty but I wonder if it's a Red Admiral caterpillar...

In other news the downstairs hallway is now painted (bar the woodwork) in matt white, and neither of us are sure either if we like it or if we think it will remain white for long... but it's clean, and that's the main thing.
