Cambo Gardens
A trip over to Fife today.
First of all St Andrews for lunch and a walk around. I was last here over forty years ago. Lots to see. Passing a watchful herring gull whilst eating ice creams (extra) as we headed into the ruins of the old cathedral I commented to H that she should be careful, I know that look. Next thing she had lost half of the remaining cone.
Next the old walled garden on the Combo estate - possibly the most beautiful walled garden I’ve ever visited (extra) - and then a walk around the estate. Lots of yellowhammers, the first I’ve seen and heard this year. They haven’t disappeared from this area.
We then headed to Crail for a look around and a very pleasant tea stop. We sat outside with a view of the Firth of Forth and the Isle of May, a nice cuppa with warm apple pie.
And finally to the Bowhouse outside St Monans. It was the opening concert of the East Neuk Festival, with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Larrson’s pastoral suite, Rodriguez guitar concerto (Sean Shibe on guitar) and Schubert’s 6th symphony. The Bowhouse is mainly about food produce and drink, but it proved a good concert venue (extra).
