We're heading for a
hot spell....I like the sunshine
but I shun the heat

I drove into McArthur Island Park's east entrance at 6 to discover scattered goose feathers on the roadway. I have to conclude that at lease one Canada goose met its sorry end there.
I drove on to the south side of the park to look for marmots as I missed them the last time I was here. I found a doe grazing in the grass of the playing field when I stopped to get a shot of my mountains. This little lady crossed the road in front of me, then proceeded to walk along the Rivers Trail as if out for her morning exercise.
I parked by the boat launch to have a look into the slough from a different location. I found Canada geese and a whole new collection of marmots. The geese glided off into the slough quietly. The marmots kept popping up from their burrow near the slough. They were all young ones and they were watching me watching them.
I caught the big brood of geese along the Rivers Trail. I think they might just hunker down there at night. Perhaps that's why one got taken. There's nothing to keep out a wandering dog or any predator that comes by.
I have an appointment downtown mid morning, then the day is mine.
