Small Tortoiseshell

I spent most of the day out in the garden, planting up three more pots with geraniums and impatiens, along with a bit of dead-heading, watering, and weeding.

At last, the lavender is starting to do its job in attracting the butterflies and bees. This afternoon I spotted small tortoiseshells, small whites, and a red admiral flitting around the blooms.

At 5:00 pm,  I headed down to the bowling green for a home match against East Parade. The green was running fast, which suits me perfectly. We had a good result - see extra —nine winners out of ten, plus two extra points for the aggregate. 

I bowled well and won my game comfortably, 21–7.

With the season just over halfway through, tonight’s win keeps us firmly in the window for promotion. We’re currently sitting in fourth place, but only two points separate us from the teams in 2nd and 3rd—so it’s all still to play for.
