If you’re thinking “that looks like an EB”, you’d be right.
In my defence, it’s been a grey, mizzly day and I’ve not been feeling 100%. Chuck in an early start for a doctors appointment and then a road closure and consequent diversion on my way to Barrow, and you will understand why nothing blipworthy occurred.
We found this, along with half a dozen similar pieces, when clearing the in-law’s house several years ago. Since then, they’ve been touted around many car boot sales where they have singularly failed to sell. Not for want of people looking at them. But when they find the pieces do not have the all important word “Goss” on the base, they drop them (not literally) like a hot potato.
When even the local bric-a-brac shop didn’t want them, and offered to “dispose” of them for me, I realised it was time to let them all go.
Except this one. In addition to the “Chester” crest on the top, stamps on the bottom say it was made in Longton and sold by a shop in Lower Bridge St, Chester. So I’ll keep it to remind us both of where we used to live…
