WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

By lizzie_birkett

Yesterday it was Hellifield Beer Festival  - extra. It’s a great social event and a good time was had by young and old. The festival  raises tons of money for the community - every group gets a cut.
The beer and cider are in the barrels so not cold :-[] . The entrance fee was £7 and for that you get a special glass, two drinks a booklet with the menu.
Last year I had two different ciders but they weren’t nice so this year I had two beers. I chose well - only 3.5% and nice taste. We had lots of laughs.
I won a prize in the raffle - a descent down Gaping Gill - a massive cave near Ingleton. At first Frank was thrilled but then he started
Thinking about his shoulder and other aches and pains. The prize was for two people so we decided to give it to two of our friends - Ian who manages the Beer Festival and Paul who does a lot for the community.

Today I have spent the whole day in the garden, weeding cutting back, emptying pots that were finished and repotting some others. I also sowed more seeds - carrots, spring onions and kale.
I dug up some Charlotte potatoes and spring onions and made a delicious potato salad for tea.

While I was working in the garden a man came and looked over the fence.
‘I would just like to tell you how delightful your garden is.’ he said.
I thanked him profusely and asked him his name and where he lives.
It turns out he and his wife have just moved in to a house across the back entry. He’s called Chris and his wife Lesley (just so I don’t forget ;-)
He said his wife writes for our local newspaper, The Craven Herald.
What a nice man, I’m sure I’ll see him again for a chat over the fence.
I didn’t come inside till tea time and after that we watched Glastonbury with Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood and Lulu. Oh my goodness they were jumping all over the stage. I think Rod is about 80 and Lulu 76!
I said to Frank, I wonder what they’re like when they first get up in the morning, do they stand up bent and then straighten up with groans and huffs and puffs like we do? Haha!

I am well and truly knackered so after Blipping I’ll be off to bed.
Hope you all had a  good weekend - I know one Blipper didn’t as had to have her lovely black lab PTS. :’-(

Goodnight ;-) X
