Not A Magic Door

I didn't get time to blip this on the day (Monday) as we didn't get home from Oxford until just before midnight.

We met up with daughter#1 as she and mrsfb were going to see Tim Minchin. He was very good they said, though lots of f and c words.

I on the other hand opted to see the F1 movie at the Oxford Cinema, quite a strange place. It was the only cinema that had something promising on where the times fitted with the theatre. Only £4.99 to get in, but no air conditioning which wasn't good on a 32°C day. It was marginally better than wandering around a hot Oxford for 3 hours. Luckily there were only 7 takers including me. I sat in the back row on my own and was able to waft my hat about from time to time to keep cool without disturbing anyone. They didn't issue me with a ticket - the girl said it wasn't necessary as she would remember me. The film itself was well done but a bit too cheesy for me - OK if you like Brad Pitt. The bits with Kerry Condon were my favourites.

We decided to park in the Westgate car park rather than worry about the Park & Ride. Super car park and worth knowing about now as the evening rate of £6 was not too bad. It took a while to pay and get out but there were big queues too for the P&R as we made our way back.

Daughter#1 had to come via Reading as there was a tree blocking the Kingham line but we still met her at the planned 3ish and had some drinks in one of the rooftop bars to keep cool, which is where I got my blip. Mrsfb was confused for a while watching people walk though the door on the left (which was the door to the ladies loo) and then disappear. We explained it was a mirror wall rather than a magic portal door. The barmaid was confused too as she made daughter#1's mocktail with alcoholic Prosecco - we kept it though as she only charged the non-alcoholic price.

We saved money at Bella Italia too using mrsfb's Boundless 2 for 1 Tastecard. The waitress talked us into having 4 main courses as it was the same cost as 3, so we shared an extra pizza. Well some of it.

Overall a lovely day, but a bit on the hot side.
