Road trip

Happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends!

We decided to head north today. Based on my memories on FB this morning I seem to do this trip on a regular basis on July 1. We did it in the opposite direction today.

Our first stop was Masstown Market where I bought some treats. We headed north until we reached the turnoff to take us cross country to Tatamagouche. Surprisingly there was not much activity around there today. We stopped at the Train Station Inn to get out and stretch and I took a few photos there. Two of them are in the collage, one of the gift shop and one of the cabooses that have been turned into overnight accommodations. They have a dining car there too, and on a visit about 10 years ago we did eat there.
Our next stop was a lavender farm on the Northumberland Shore. It will be another couple of weeks before the lavender is in peak bloom. I did find a few blooms.
We found a few picnic tables set up near a wharf in Toney River, so we stopped there for lunch. I stopped at one place and bought a few plants. She sells them in her driveway and they are in smaller pots than what you get at the garden centers, so the prices reflect that. She will be closing soon for the season, so everything was 25 - 50% off. Our last stop was at a farm market. I have bought some garlic aioli and BBQ sauce there in the past, but they did not have any in stock today. They do make a good potato salad, so I bought a container of that to have for supper tonight.

After sunshine and warm temperatures this afternoon, the fog has rolled in. As a result the fireworks that were scheduled for tonight have been postponed until Natal Day in early August.
