Nostell

A special day, the middle day of the year and also my birthday!

Lovely video from my girls first thing, full of fun as they sang Happy Birthday and danced before heading off to school and preschool.

Here it was damp and murky, not very July like at all. It continued that way all the way down to Nostell near Wakefield.
When we arrived it was still drizzling a bit so the courtyard cafe was full for coffee time but we managed to find a table.

Chris had said it was due to brighten up at 11.00, it took a bit longer for the sun to come out but it did stop raining. We walked around the rose and kitchen garden before heading down to the lake. After a few  photos my battery went. I had put a spare in my bag at the last minute but alas it must have been one I’d forgotten to re charge! So I turned to the phone. A good job I did as when down loading from my camera back home I realised they were being deleted!! So not the picture I’d hoped to post of the clapper bridge across the lake and the water  lilies.

This is the house. We had a nice lunch and with the sun now out the out door seating was in use so there was plenty of room.
We then planned to tour the house but we both suddenly felt rather weary and as we had planned early evening drinks with friends we left it for another visit.  There is a Chippendale trail as the Winn family had many pieces of Chippendale furniture made for this grand home.
I believe it also has a notable dolls house so definitely worth a further visit. National Trust so, as members, we can visit free of charge.

Just in now from enjoying a double gin and tonic with friends, I normally have a single, hope I can still get up for tomorrow’s early walk!
