Another walk to the nature reserve
I cannot imagine living without the countryside that surrounds me... being able to walk into the green, to find connection amidst the thriving interconnected non-human landscape. Sky above me, ground below me, water all around me...
Every day, something to encounter... and in the spirit of my photography to capture an essence of the thing, or things. Yes, it's lovely to see new places, experience new horizons, but as the red slippered sassy lassy said, there's no place like home.
So, on today's butterfly walk at the nature reserve, many things other than butterflies. But Meadow Browns, Marbled Whites, Small Skippers, Small Whites, Ringlets and Peacocks figured strongly. As did the red soldier beetles, of course, and on the ragwort thousands of cinnabar moth caterpillars.
In the main, a four spot chaser - and I've never before noticed the eye colouration. In the extra, a common blue. I could have led with either and been as happy.
