This is the day

Still dancing

I went up to the Atrium to meet an old friend for coffee this morning, and I wore my new tiered summer dress for the first time. This particular friend used to be a model many decades ago, and thus always looks elegant and beautifully dressed, so it was especially gratifying that she told me how good it looked on me. It is so floaty and comfortable that I shall have to make myself another one, otherwise I’ll be tempted to wear it every day! Fortunately I already have some fabric which would be ideal, so that’s a project for next week. It will be good to make the pattern up again so it helps me remember how to do it.

This photo is another reason I’m dancing for joy – I’ve found this dark pink hollyhock in the garden. I’d almost given up on believing that the ones I grew from seed last year would come up trumps, but now I’ve found four hollyhock plants of different shades of pink dotted around the garden, so there’s hope that their number will gradually increase over time. Meanwhile, the pale lemon ones proliferate at an amazing rate.
