Darlington Coffee

Mentioned in bgleyna’s blip this has become our local go to coffee place here. Excellent espresso drinks and this morning a delicious Bakewell tart. The place has a Star Wars theme and I was amused by the sign on the back of the toilet door encouraging anyone sitting on the toilet seat to “Use The Force!” It is to be found in a very narrow alley called Clark’s Yard where there are also a number of really interesting shops including a cheese and wine shop and a soon to be opened artisan bakery which is aiming to provide jobs and training for the jobless. Bought some fresh produce and a few meat items from the indoor market which were very reasonably priced and made our way back via a circular route. As I have always found, being a northerner by birth, the friendliness and sense of community is very evident.

Spent part of the afternoon trying to help LV set up the Wineomania tent for their show at the Durham County Showground but the wind was blowing a gale and it proved impossible.

We will continue to sojourn here for the next few days before heading off to the Peak District for some walking and meeting up with my youngest sister and her fiancé
