Thinking about Garlic

This is my crop of Solent Wight garlic. It has been dried in the greenhouse for about a month and it will shortly be consumed in all sorts of delicious dishes!

However not before a small proportion of it has been put aside to act as the seed for next years crop. In days gone by this is what people would have had to do out of necessity otherwise they would have gone hungry.

It is a practice that seems to have been entirely forgotten nowadays. It might become more prevalent when one considers the cost of buying in new seed garlic!
