Adolescent

Back in May I blipped a fluffy avocet chick with the parent bird as an extra.  This one interested me today though as it's something inbetween.  Not quite as wary as the full adults, it was hunting for food in the water channel outside the wire fence.  Getting towards but not yet adult in size, you can see it still has a reasonable amount of it's brown and fawn baby camouflage still, particularly across the wings.  Even the so-called 'black' is infact brown.

So, yes, you can see I did get to Lymington.  I nearly didn't go as when I woke it was windy, dull and grey, but I pushed myself and by the time I got there, though still windy, the sun was pretty lovely.  As far as blip goes, this was my reward!

Thank you to everyone who asked after Duke.  He does have an appointment at the vet tomorrow, but is looking much brighter today, which is cheering.
