Today's the day ...................... for a young 'un

Always good to see a Great Spotted Woodpecker on the peanuts - although, in my experience, it's the fatballs that would be the preferred choice, if there were any.

You can tell that this is a juvenile because of its red crown - which is already looking a bit tatty (see extra) and will eventually disappear.  The nice thing is that this one has been around for a while and is obviously quite at home on the feeders.  That means he/she stays long enough for you to get a picture ....................
