Backblip: Rocking and Rolling

We leave Eigg this morning and head to the island of Canna. It is tipping down with rain, so only three of us want to go ashore on the tender. I’m glad we do - this island has a good feel to it. We visit the remains of the dramatically located castle, Canna House garden, then go in search of the ancient Celtic cross and standing stone.

Then, pretty drenched, back to the boat which heads to the nearby island of Rum. It has stopped raining (briefly) and four of us head ashore and to the otter hide. No otters, but it’s a nice view.

Then back on board and we head to the mainland, our destination Loch Sunart and a mooring off Salen where we’ll be sheltered from the worst of the weather. The journey from Rum to beyond Ardnamurchan Point is a real roller coaster. It’s tipping down with rain most of the way and our boat rolls from side to side as we go. On deck, I enjoy it in a strange sort of way.
