Backblip: Carved Stones
The captain has decided to leave Salen and head to Loch Aline today, where we will moor for the night. It’s a slow journey, he cannot get into the loch before high tide this afternoon.
Another very wet day, despite which everyone decides to take the tender to the village of Lochaline. Whilst the others go in search of a place for a coffee, three of us decide on a longer trek to find Kiel church. An interesting graveyard, and in the former sessions house next door a lot of ancient carved stones. Some, like the one featured, were reused as headstones in the 18th century.
