CyclopsJnr

Fisherman

A breezy and bright day with occasional showers.

We started the morning flying a kite, but the knot came undone and it ended up stuck on the roof so a ladder was needed to recover it.  Next we played Rummikub, which CyclopsJnr won by a good margin.

Corned beef sandwiches for lunch, followed by a spaceship card game we won two rounds of each.

In the afternoon we decided to do some fishing off the pier at Badentarbet.  Just as we arrived the heavens opened with torrential rain, but it was just a brief shower.  Once that passed CyclopsJnr showed what an independent and competent fisher he was - casting much greater distances than in previous years and able to do nearly everything for himself.  Cyclops got the first two mackerel but they were tiny so went back.  Then CyclopsJnr got one large enough to take, then he got another tiddler that went back.  Cyclops kept catching tiddlers, so swapped feathers for a much bigger lure hoping to get bigger fish.  The very next fish he caught was the smallest (but clearly the most ambitious in its choice of prey) yet.  Finally Cyclops got a nice big one, so we had one each for dinner.

We popped into the village shop for some sweeties before heading back to the house to cook our catch.

Extra: CyclopsJnr preparing to tuck in!
