Alice's Adventures

Warm, with a good breeze from the West. Afternoon walk to the Botanics.
Passing by the 'Gently Mad Bookshop and Bookbinder', noticed this in the window. Online searching finds matches with a poster, issued to promote the book in 1865. It's hard to tell from the picture, but this looks like an elephant folio book, not a poster on the front of a box. There must be a story about how it got to the bookseller ..

The Botanics were busy with loud children, so we passed quickly through. The swan family were out on Inverleith pond; the five tufted ducks are still there; no sign of another brood yet (remembering that there was another brood last year).  One heron in the pond. Back in by the shaded paths, another heron stalking along the river.
