Saint Anthony, Keeper of the Trolleys
The Rhine Cycle Path, Day Six:
The scheduled Rest Day. We started the day with another Rhineside run (what with not cycling and everything it seems only right) – just 4K this time, up to the Bastion and back – then we found our way to the confusingly relocated Romische-Germanisches Museum – currently operating as a kind of ‘greatest hits’ exhibition at the Belgischen Haus whilst the main museum is closed for restoration. We had time to duck back into the Dom and revisit the Café Reichard as well before catching a train out of Cologne to visit our friends Antje and Michael in Numbrecht for waffles, wurst and a good catch-up – I thought we hadn’t seen them since our families holidayed together in 2012 but Beck reminded me that they have visited us in Nottingham since on a stopover whilst driving back from Scotland a few years ago. Anyway, we got back to the Malzmuhlen quite late but we still managed to squeeze in a last Kolsch and ‘Grun’…
