Bath planters
Despite the heat, 31C today we walked into Bath this morning which wasn’t too bad walking on the shady side of the road. We actually saw quite a few empty shops we haven’t noticed before.
We stopped at Landrace on Walcot Street. When I was here last they said they would have their extended premises open by May and indeed they have. The upstairs is now dining and downstairs a bakery shop and cafe. We got a table and had iced water and I had an iced, spiced apple juice which was lovely with a Cardamom bun of course! Extra
I have to say I miss the spiral staircase and the eccentric toilet up the steps but it’s still very nice.
Along Walcot Street there were these striped planters with a stencil of Jane Austin on each side. It’s 250 years since her birth which was not in Bath but she did live here, against her will as her parents moved here, and set some of her books in the city. Despite the fact that she didn’t really like Bath she is greatly celebrated here and you always see someone dressed a La Austin. There were a few near the Abbey today. The other planters also sporting a Jane Austin stencil were in a street at the side of the Abbey that we passed on our way back from M & S. Chris wanted some shorts, I think everyone was buying them, as his others are too big and I had a 20% off menswear voucher. Success. We got some sushi and some strawberries for lunch and headed for the bus, we’d had enough.
At 3.00 pm we picked Eda up from school and took her some strawberries.
Grace is home from her last day at Montpellier High School in Bristol. I’m sure she’ll miss the school but not the journey. She’s gone to collect a shop rand then Jude from Pre school. It will be Jude’s last week there next week and today they have had a visit to a farm*. She was very excited this morning and slathered with factor 50!
A chilled evening as tomorrow is going to be full on.

She got to ride on a tractor and feed a goat!
