secret garden

I love Bantry! We nipped into the market to get  a few goodies and the atmosphere was wonderful - the sun was shining, music was being played all over the place, everyone in an incredibly good mood and just general pleasantness. This is what it's all about isn't it? It doesn't have to be so hard. A little oasis really but other realities not forgotten if you look closely. At midday, after the Angelus, Rubicon burst into life with some trad music. The smallies loved it and spontaneous dancing erupted. The little girl was a pro and had all the moves, her little brother enthusiastic. The smallest boy nearest the band was in full swing, also playing a mouth organ his granny had just bought him. We chatted with Tony and marvelled at the swifts soaring above it all.

The Literary Festivalis kicking off today - an impressive line up.

We're having friends round for supper - Himself is in charge. Dips, olives and pitta to start with followed by pea fritters, baked tomatoes and a salad. I have slaved over the pudding - a massive cheesecake purchased at the Stuffed Olive - I wonder if I can pass it off as my own. It's still so warm we shall start off down by the pond and come in when the midges start biting and the sun disappears from the garden. Catch up later.
