More swifts
This morning the swifts were out in large numbers again. They congregate around the Victorian primary school that's next door to our house; I think they still nest under the eaves there.
I found a reasonably good vantage point on the street next to the school, and watched small groups of swifts flying up to the eaves and out again. It was hard to tell which birds had active nests there, and which were younger ones possibly prospecting for a nesting opportunity next year.
I've had to crop the main shot and the two extras quite a bit, so the quality isn't particularly high. Getting any kind of accurate focus on a speeding swift is tricky anyway. However the light was good, which helped.
Swifts leave on migration around the end of July/early August... I'm hoping for a few more opportunities to watch them before that, and perhaps get some sharper and clearer shots.
