A Volunteer

We started the day around 6:00 am. Hubby finished loading the camper and truck. I changed our bed linens and washed the last load of laundry. We had squash and several yellow tomatoes to pick from the garden. I fed the birds and saw this beautiful sunflower whose seed fell from the feeder and grew. The bumble made the shot interesting. I could contemplate the composition of sunflowers all day. They, like many of God’s creations, are simply amazing. We have many more sunflowers growing in the front garden. They should be blooming when we return. Hubby filled the bird baths and I refreshed the hummer feeders. Hubby washed dishes, I emptied the dishwasher. While hubby showered, I scrubbed all floors on the main level, cleaned the bathrooms, and dusted the furniture. After I cut up watermelon, hubby dumped the scraps in our earth machine and emptied all the trash cans. I showered. And then the deluge began, just as we were ready to leave. We propped up our tired puppies and waited till it had almost stopped. Rather than leave at our planned 10:00, we pulled out at 11:45. We stopped in Virginia and filled the gas tank. Had lunch at Chipotle. Hubby bought milk. There were no issues on the trip other than heavy rains off and on. I napped part of the way. Parker’s lacrosse team won all three games yesterday in his Hershey, PA tournament. They won their first game today. Were tied for the championship 5-5 after coming back from a 5-2 deficit but lost in overtime. I’d say the boys did great competing against teams from all over the country. Our three starters joined Parker in the field this weekend and what a difference it makes having the core team together. Haven’t heard from my sister. Sure hope she had a calm day with our mother. Wishing you and her a wonderful new week. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. "Pick up a sunflower and count the florets running into its centre, or count the spiral scales of a pine cone or a pineapple, running from its bottom up its sides to the top, and you will find an extraordinary truth: recurring numbers, ratios and proportions." –Charles Jencks
