Fête nationale

We had a rude awakening this morning as the basement was flooded. The hot water tank had sprung a leak. Fortunately, the water ran mostly over the tiled floor so mopping up was not too difficult and there was no serious damage. We went to ring for the 14th of July celebrations and then joined the procession following the cobla band up to the Mairie where there were speeches and apéros. Fortunately, our American ringer is engaged to an electrician who was on the square and he gave me the contact for a retired plumber who he says will bale us out. I sent a message and he is coming round this afternoon which is good news.
