Rapid Madness
The Trust I am a trustee of had an away day with the staff today, and invited the trustees to join them. We were given three options. Turn up at the Jacksons Boat pub at 1.30pm. Walk the 10km to the pub from Northenden River Park. Or kayak 10km along the River Mersey from Northenden River Park. In a moment of madness I chose the last option. I kayaked for the first and only time off a beach in south Devon last year for 15 minutes.
Of the sixteen kayaking I am the oldest by some margin, and the unfittest. If I’d been told we had to go through four “rapids” along the way I would have had serious second thoughts. I am very achy, but on the plus side - we made it (a big thank you to young R in the front of this kayak), and it was good meeting up with everyone.
This image breaks two of my general blip rules. I didn’t take it. And it features me. All my possessions - and a change of clothing, which I and everyone else needed, we all got very wet- were firmly locked in my car. Thanks to K, walking dog Molly to the pub, for the photo. It just had to be today’s image, and does include rocks and stones both on the banks and under the water, so is on theme.
