Black Beauty

I'm growing five different types of tomato this year including a couple of so-called 'heirloom' varieties that my niece gave me the seed for. This one is called 'Black beauty'. It is the darkest tomato available. We harvested the first ones today. They become black with a dark red flush around the base when they are ripe. Even the flesh is dark red. In the background is another heirloom variety, the heart shaped Sergeant Pepper's Tomato. Equally wonderful.
