A new one on me

Shopping delivery this morning and then we’ve been over to friends for a barbecue.  Lots of wasps so we had to eat indoors but were still attacked.  Back outside for coffee and not a wasp to be seen.

I have no idea what this flying beast is, but it was enjoying the fennel.
