RHS Wentworth Woodhouse

With my sister in law and her husband, and their two beagles, we visited RHS Wentworth Woodhouse flower show today. It’s a new venue for the RHS, following the decision to rotate the northern flower show between three venues (including Tatton) every three years.

Wentworth Woodhouse is only a few miles from J and her sister’s home town, so I know it quite well. The house and its estate are steeped in history, and when I first saw it the big house was empty, crumbling and semi derelict, and inaccessible. In recent years it has come into the ownership of a charitable trust, who are making great efforts to breathe new life into what was once one of Englands grandest stately homes.

The show seems to have been a great success. Today it was very busy, on a particularly warm day. We were all a bit hot and bothered as we left. Tomorrow the forecast is for heavy rain, it will be a very different experience for those visiting. We’ve been lucky.

A few extras added temporarily.
