Beautiful places
We were in two gorgeous places today (Wonersh URC and Godalming), so it was hard to choose just one photograph to post for the day. I hope my collage tells something of it.
We got to the service on time (phew). It was cold in the morning, so I was glad I had my fleece. The service was live-streamed from the Woking URC. They were marking Eco Sunday, so the songs, readings and sermons were on the theme of caring for the Earth. I was dreading a live-streamed service, but it was done really well.
We moved on to Godalming (again) for a Sunday lunch. Jack Phillips had been recommended, but we left and found the Fox & Finch. They did a Sunday Roast, but sadly, G's beef wasn't as tender as one would hope for. The building itself was heaving with history. It had been the courthouse, a library, but mostly a pub. The new proprietor has done a great job making the old and new sit side by side.
Godalming itself is gorgeous, with several historic buildings. I wish I had my DSLR with me. We were back in time for 4 o'clock tea. Apart from trying to replace the bulb of the outside PIR light, which remains a work in progress (the bayonet fitting I ordered was too small), I have had a real day off.
PS. I should mention the cross I've used for my thumbnail. I noticed it as soon as I sat down at T@3 last week. I thought to myself how beautifully simple it is. At the meeting last Sunday, they spoke of finding new homes for the items which were in the Church. I enquired about the cross, and discovered it was made by Chris's brother, several decades ago. They said I could have it! Through the week, it has been cleaned and polished by the person who made it. I will leave it in the church until they have their last service in October, as it looks so right where it is placed.
And I put the heating on today!
